Ravens Not Expected to Trade Derrick Henry Before Deadline
Baltimore has told its star running back it has no intention of dealing him, even after a third straight lopsided loss
Derrick Henry is staying in Baltimore. The Ravens aren't expected to trade their star running back before Tuesday's deadline, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday.
According to Schefter's story, the Ravens recently told Henry they have no intention of moving him, and they never seriously considered it. Speculation had grown that his former coaches, John Harbaugh with the Giants and Mike Vrabel with the Patriots, might be interested, but there's no evidence either team called about him. The only Ravens running back the Giants asked about was Justice Hill.

The speculation made sense on paper. Baltimore has lost Lamar Jackson to injured reserve after thumb surgery and Tyler Huntley to a season-ending turf toe injury, and Thursday's 33-10 loss to Jacksonville was its third straight defeat by at least 20 points, a first in franchise history. But the 4-5 Ravens aren't giving up on the season. They traded for Jacoby Brissett to keep them in the race until Jackson can return, and Henry is part of that plan.
Henry said after Thursday's game that he hasn't talked about a trade with management.
The 11-year veteran has 689 yards and eight touchdowns on 175 carries this season, a 3.9-yard average. He passed Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson on Thursday to move into seventh on the NFL's career rushing list with 13,707 yards, and Curtis Martin (14,101) is next.
Baltimore's schedule eases up from here, starting with the winless Chargers on Monday night, Nov. 16, followed by road trips to Carolina and Houston.
