Patriots' TreVeyon Henderson Hospitalized With 'Unexplained Neurological Symptoms'

The second-year running back said tests have been reassuring but the cause remains unknown; New England leans on Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Green Bay

Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said Friday he recently went through an unexpected medical emergency involving unexplained neurological symptoms that required several days in the hospital.

In a statement reported by ESPN's Mike Reiss, Henderson said comprehensive testing has "come back positive and reassuring," but "the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable."

"I will continue working closely with specialists and physical therapists to focus on my recovery, as these symptoms have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions," Henderson said. "I am committed to doing everything necessary to return to full health. My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities."

Neither Henderson nor the Patriots offered further medical detail. Henderson, 24, missed Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins. After New England's Oct. 22 loss to the Bears, he practiced twice before landing on the injury report with an illness designation on Oct. 29 and has not practiced since.

In six games this season, Henderson has 52 carries for 203 yards (3.9 per carry) and one touchdown, plus five catches for 45 yards. As a 2025 second-round pick out of Ohio State, he rushed for 911 yards on 180 carries (5.1 per carry) with nine touchdowns as a rookie and added 35 receptions for 221 yards and a score.

With Henderson sidelined, the Patriots (5-3) will continue to lean on Rhamondre Stevenson as the lead back — Stevenson has 96 carries for 367 yards and two touchdowns this season — with Corey Kiner and Lan Larison in the mix behind him. New England hosts the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.
