Jets Rule Out Garrett Wilson (Concussion) for Sunday at Kansas City
New York's leading receiver is out against the Chiefs after entering the concussion protocol midweek; Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. step up
The Jets will be without their top offensive player Sunday in Kansas City. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson has been ruled out with a concussion, Adam Schefter reported Friday.
Wilson entered the concussion protocol after taking a hit from Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn on the next-to-last play of last week's 38-33 loss in Las Vegas. He finished that game and seemed fine afterward, then reported symptoms Monday. The Jets (2-6) are in their second three-game losing streak of the season and already faced a steep climb at Arrowhead; losing their leading receiver makes it steeper.

Wilson leads New York with 43 catches for 527 yards and three touchdowns. In his absence, Adonai Mitchell — coming off a career-high 142 yards — moves into the No. 1 wideout role, with rookie Omar Cooper Jr. also expected for a bigger share after a quiet week following consecutive 100-yard games. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich said the staff isn't panicking about replacing Wilson's production, but he also didn't pretend anyone on the roster is a one-for-one swap for a receiver of Wilson's skill set.
There is a bright spot on offense: running back Breece Hall, sidelined five games with a quadriceps injury, said Thursday he is ready to go after being listed as questionable the past two weeks. How New York splits carries between Hall and Braelon Allen, who rushed for 504 yards in Hall's absence, remains to be seen. Kickoff against the Chiefs is Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
