Jets WR Garrett Wilson in Concussion Protocol Ahead of Chiefs Trip
New York's top receiver has to clear the league's protocol before Sunday's game in Kansas City
The Jets' best offensive player is in the concussion protocol. Aaron Glenn said Wednesday that receiver Garrett Wilson is in the protocol, as Ari Meirov noted, with New York heading to Kansas City to face the Chiefs on Sunday.
Wilson has to clear every step of the league's return-to-play process, including sign-off from an independent neurological consultant, before he can play. Glenn didn't give a timeline, so his status for Sunday will come down to how he progresses through the week's practices.

Losing him even for one game would hurt. Wilson is the focal point of the passing game. Before last weekend, he had 37 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns, and nobody else on the roster commands targets the way he does. The Jets have no intention of trading him before the Nov. 10 deadline, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, after Wilson signed a four-year, $130 million extension that runs through 2030.
Wilson has also said himself that he hasn't asked for a trade. "I want to be here, man," he said last week. "I want to win games, and that's the one thing we've been missing on here."
Wednesday did bring some offsetting news for New York. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport pointed out that running back Breece Hall and rookie edge rusher David Bailey could return this week.
Kansas City presents a tough matchup regardless. The Chiefs host the Jets at Arrowhead on Sunday, with Andy Reid sticking with Harrison Butker as his kicker over Justin Tucker, who remains on the practice squad.
