Ravens QB Tyler Huntley's Season Is Over With Turf Toe; Joe Fagnano Starts Thursday

With Lamar Jackson out indefinitely and Huntley done, Baltimore turns to its undrafted rookie against Jacksonville

The Ravens' quarterback room took another hit. Tests showed Tyler "Snoop" Huntley suffered a season-ending turf toe injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning, and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano will start Thursday night against Jacksonville.

Huntley had been believed to have turf toe after leaving Sunday's 36-10 loss in Buffalo, and he was already out for the foreseeable future after Monday's MRI. Wednesday's news closes the door completely. He played only 10 snaps against the Bills before getting hurt.

That leaves Baltimore without its top two quarterbacks for the long haul. Lamar Jackson is out indefinitely after hurting his right thumb on the first offensive snap in Buffalo, and he is headed to injured reserve for surgery. Fagnano took the other 40 snaps against the Bills, and the offense managed 144 total yards and 68 net passing yards.

The Ravens have already been adding bodies behind him, signing Austin Reed to the practice squad and Kedon Slovis off Green Bay's practice squad. One of them figures to back up Fagnano on a short week.

The schedule doesn't help. Baltimore (4-4) hosts a 5-2 Jaguars team that leads the AFC South and just beat the Colts 42-7, then hosts the Chargers on Monday night the following week. With Jackson's return uncertain and Huntley gone, the offense now runs through a quarterback who wasn't drafted.
