Saints Plan to Activate LT Kelvin Banks and WR Jordyn Tyson vs. Browns

New Orleans is adding two first-round talents back to the 53-man roster for Sunday after Banks' ankle surgery and Tyson's hamstring IR stint

The Saints are getting healthier at the right time. New Orleans plans to activate left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. for Sunday's game against the Browns, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday, a quick turnaround from the high-ankle sprain that required surgery in September.

Fowler later added that rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson will be activated as well. The Saints opened Tyson's practice window earlier this week after the No. 8 overall pick spent the season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury that dated to August. He has yet to take a regular-season snap, and getting him onto the 53-man roster now puts the top-10 talent in play for the second half.

Banks' return is just as big up front. The first-round left tackle had locked down the job before the severe high-ankle sprain and surgery knocked him out indefinitely in late September. Fowler noted the recovery has been faster than expected for an injury that often stretches deep into a season, and New Orleans had already been working other linemen while he rehabbed.

New Orleans (2-5) hosts Cleveland (5-3) on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome with Shedeur Sanders making his first start of the year for the Browns. Adding Banks and Tyson back to the active roster gives the Saints two high-draft picks for the stretch run after a rough first two months on both sides of the ball.
