Rams Open Myles Garrett's Practice Window, Star Edge Set to Return to Practice
Sean McVay says Garrett, on injured reserve since knee surgery in mid-September, will practice this week, and tight end Terrance Ferguson might join him
Myles Garrett is finally on his way back. Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday the team will open Garrett's 21-day practice window this week, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, and the star edge rusher is set to practice.
Garrett has been on injured reserve since arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September. He played in the season opener but said afterward he wasn't 100%, after missing most of training camp with what McVay called irritation in the knee. He hasn't played since, sitting out seven straight games.

Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero): Rams coach Sean McVay announced the team will open star edge Myles Garrett's practice window this week.
This is the news the Rams expected a week ago. Last Wednesday, McVay said the team wouldn't open the windows for Garrett or Ferguson, stressing there was no setback and no need for another procedure, just that Garrett wasn't ready yet. Now he is ready to get back on the field, though McVay didn't put a game timeline on his return. Once the window opens, the Rams have 21 days to activate him to the 53-man roster or he reverts to season-ending IR.
His return can't come soon enough for a defensive front that has been hit hard, with Kobie Turner on injured reserve along with Poona Ford. Adding a pass rusher of Garrett's caliber changes what Los Angeles can do up front, even if he needs a few practices to knock off the rust.
Tight end Terrance Ferguson could be next. McVay said he's undecided on Ferguson, but the second-year player looks more likely to practice this week than not. Ferguson has been on IR since spraining his ankle in Week 3 against the Broncos.
