Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): #Giants GM Joe Schoen tells reporters during his bye-week press conference RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. is being placed on IR with a hamstring injury suffered Sunday in the win over the #Texans. Not a long-term injury but he’s down four games.
Schoen said he doesn't expect it to be long term, but IR means Tracy misses at least four games. With the Giants off this week, that keeps him out through Week 12 at the earliest.
Tracy left in the second quarter Sunday in Houston and didn't return, finishing with six carries for 15 yards and a touchdown. He'd been battling his way back into the rotation behind Cam Skattebo and had scored in each of the last two games.
With Najee Harris released last week, the backfield is now down to Skattebo and Devin Singletary. Reporters at the press conference said the Giants will add depth by signing running back Greg Desrosiers off the Chargers' practice squad.
New York returns Nov. 8 at Philadelphia.
