Colts Trade Quenton Nelson to Seahawks for 2027 Third-Round Pick
Indianapolis is sending the eight-time Pro Bowl guard, who is on an expiring deal, to Seattle for a 2027 third-rounder and a 2028 fifth-rounder
The Colts have traded Quenton Nelson.
Indianapolis agreed to send the eight-time Pro Bowl guard to the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday. Tom Pelissero had the compensation: the Colts get a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.

Nelson is on an expiring contract, and the Colts chose to take draft capital now rather than risk losing him in free agency after the season. It's the first sign that a 2-5 Indianapolis team is selling ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
The deal is also the first big move for Ed Dodds, who is now leading the Colts' personnel department. Dodds worked in Seattle's front office from 2007 to 2016, and he made this trade with his former boss, Seahawks GM John Schneider.
For Seattle, it's another buyer's move. The Seahawks are 4-3 and add one of the best guards in football to the interior of their offensive line.
For Indianapolis, the picks help replace some of what it gave up for cornerback Sauce Gardner, Pelissero noted. The New York Jets hold the Colts' 2027 first-round pick from that deal, as Schefter pointed out, so the Colts don't control their own first-rounder next spring no matter how this season ends.
Nelson may not be the last to go. Pelissero reported last weekend that the Colts had serious trade interest in both Nelson and DeForest Buckner and that no one was expected to be off-limits. Ari Meirov listed Buckner, Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart and Keenan Allen as other names to watch and said Indianapolis is willing to listen to offers on everyone.
