49ers' Christian McCaffrey Has Mild Hamstring Strain, Expected Back After Bye
Kyle Shanahan also expects Nick Bosa, Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel back for the Raiders game, though nothing is guaranteed
Christian McCaffrey has a mild hamstring strain, not a thigh injury, and the 49ers are optimistic he'll be ready when they return from their bye against the Raiders, coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero called it "good news on Christian McCaffrey and other 49ers after this week's much-needed bye."
McCaffrey got hurt in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. "We're pretty optimistic," Shanahan said, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

The bigger news may be who else is coming back. Shanahan said receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Luke Gifford are all expected back after the bye, though he stopped short of guaranteeing it. Evans (Achilles), Samuel (hamstring), Bosa (calf) and Gifford were all ruled out for the Atlanta game, so San Francisco played without two of its top receivers and its best pass rusher. Getting them all back at once would change the look of both sides of the ball heading into Week 9.
