Franklin missed Sunday's loss to the Lions after getting accidentally kicked in practice last week, an injury the team had called a shin issue. Green Bay didn't put him on injured reserve and believes he can return while missing minimal time. That matters because Franklin, acquired from the Colts this offseason, was voted a defensive captain in his first year with the team and calls the defense. He ranks third on the Packers with 41 tackles.
Rhyan's injury looks like the bigger problem. He left Sunday's game in Detroit with an ankle injury. X-rays were negative and he's getting an MRI on Monday, but high-ankle sprains typically cost four to six weeks.

Green Bay's center spot was already thin on Sunday. Packers were on their third center, John Williams, nine plays into the game, with Jacob Monk (quad) also going down. Coach Matt LaFleur said neither Rhyan nor Monk is likely to be available Thursday night against the Panthers, which leaves Williams as the likely option on a short week.
