Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate): #Packers LB Zaire Franklin, who has had a great season so far, took a knee to the shin during practice this week and is OUT for Sunday’s game vs. the #Lions. HC Matt LaFleur does not anticipate it being an IR situation.
Matt LaFleur said the injury occurred in a practice collision and does not expect Franklin to need injured reserve. He is out for this game, but Green Bay does not expect to need to placed him on IR.
Franklin’s absence also affects a linebacker group already without Edgerrin Cooper and waiting for Micah Parsons to return to action. Franklin is the team's defensive captain, so this is not merely a loss at the position but leader as well.
