Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Bucs HC Todd Bowles told reporters that Baker Mayfield “looks like he’s ready to go”, and he now is expected to start Sunday vs. the Panthers.
Mayfield has been working back from an injured throwing-hand thumb. He said Thursday that it felt strong enough to play. The expectation is not an official announcement of Sunday's starting lineup, but it points toward Mayfield returning after his absence.
Tampa Bay will be without receiver Emeka Egbuka. Buccaneers listed Egbuka as out on their official injury report for the Carolina game. Mayfield's likely return therefore comes with one of his receiving options unavailable.
