Browns Activate QB Dillon Gabriel From IR, Waive TE Carsen Ryan
Cleveland now carries four quarterbacks on its 53-man roster, with Gabriel joining Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Taylen Green
The Browns activated quarterback Dillon Gabriel off injured reserve Monday and waived rookie tight end Carsen Ryan to make room, Ian Rapoport reported.
Gabriel, a 2025 third-round pick, had been on IR with a back injury since the roster cutdown in late August. The Browns opened his practice window Oct. 6, so Monday was the decision point on bringing him back.

That gives Cleveland four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Deshaun Watson won the job in camp and has started all seven games for the 5-2 Browns, who lead the AFC North. Shedeur Sanders has been the backup, and rookie sixth-rounder Taylen Green has served as the emergency quarterback on game days, per ESPN.
Carrying four quarterbacks rarely lasts. Rapoport said on NFL Network on Monday that Cleveland's winning "brings fascinating QB and trade questions into play," and Gabriel's return only adds to the crowd with the deadline approaching.
