Saints Waive RB Kendre Miller, Former Third-Round Pick, and TE Treyton Welch
New Orleans cleared roster room for Jordyn Tyson and Kelvin Banks Jr. by cutting the oft-injured back it drafted in 2023 as Alvin Kamara's eventual successor
The Saints have moved on from running back Kendre Miller. New Orleans waived Miller and tight end Treyton Welch on Saturday as part of a set of moves ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

The two open spots made room for the activations of left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. and rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson from injured reserve. New Orleans also elevated kicker Charlie Smyth and running back Zamir White from the practice squad for the game.
Miller's release closes the book on a pick that never panned out. The Saints took him in the third round (71st overall) out of TCU in 2023, where he ran for 1,399 yards for the team that reached the national title game. He was drafted to complement Alvin Kamara and eventually take over the backfield, but injuries kept getting in the way. In parts of four seasons he has 184 career carries for 656 yards, a 3.6-yard average, plus 29 catches for 217 yards.
His path to snaps narrowed further this year. New Orleans added Travis Etienne in free agency and recently claimed Audric Estimé off waivers from the Browns, and White's elevation gives the Saints another body in the backfield for Sunday.
Miller now goes on waivers. Any team that claims him has to put him on its 53-man roster; if he clears, he becomes a free agent who can sign anywhere, including a practice squad.
The Saints (2-5) host Cleveland on Sunday in their first game since Week 7.
