Commanders Place WR Dyami Brown on IR With Calf Injury
Washington's receiver room takes another hit as Brown will miss at least four games, with Jaden Bradley elevated for Sunday against the Rams
Dyami Brown's calf injury is going to cost him more than one game. The Commanders placed the receiver on injured reserve Saturday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported, a day after Washington ruled him out for Sunday's game against the Rams.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): WR Dyami Brown (calf) has been placed on IR.
Brown tweaked the calf during Thursday's practice, was limited that day and didn't practice Friday. The IR placement means he must miss at least four games, so the earliest he can return is Week 13.
It's another blow to a receiver room that has been thinned all season. Washington lost Terry McLaurin for the year to a torn patellar tendon, and Treylon Burks is also out this week with a foot injury. Brown came back to Washington this offseason on a one-year, $1.75 million deal after a season with the Jaguars and had nine catches for 94 yards on 16 targets in a rotation role.
To fill the spot for Sunday, the Commanders elevated undrafted rookie receiver Jaden Bradley from the practice squad. That leaves Stefon Diggs and rookie Antonio Williams as the only healthy receivers who have caught a pass for Washington this season, with Van Jefferson, Luke McCaffrey and Bradley behind them. Diggs has 27 catches for 252 yards and five touchdowns, and Williams has 23 for 259 yards and a score.
The injury also all but ends any chance of Washington moving Brown before Tuesday's trade deadline. The Commanders (2-4-1) host the Rams (4-4) on Sunday.
