Saints Release K Daniel Carlson, Claim RB Audric Estime Off Waivers From Browns
New Orleans moves on from its struggling kicker and adds a running back to a ground game ranked 28th in the league
The Saints made two moves out of their bye Tuesday, releasing kicker Daniel Carlson and claiming running back Audric Estime off waivers from Cleveland, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
Carlson's release ends a rough stretch. He missed a field goal or an extra point in six of his seven games with New Orleans, with four missed field goals and two missed PATs. Every missed field goal came from 50-plus yards, and the last one stung most: a 52-yarder wide right with 9:32 left in the 16-10 loss to the Steelers in Paris before the bye. The Saints haven't announced who will kick next.

Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Saints released K Daniel Carlson and have claimed RB Audric Estime off waivers from Cleveland.
Estime lands in New Orleans a day after the Browns waived him. The 23-year-old signed with Cleveland off Minnesota's practice squad less than three weeks ago and played one game, rushing nine times for 19 yards and a touchdown in the win over Baltimore.
He's joining a run game that needs help. The Saints rank 28th in the league at 86 rushing yards per game and managed only 18 yards on 17 carries in Paris, which led Kellen Moore to fire run game coordinator T.J. Paganetti this week. Travis Etienne Jr. is eligible to come off injured reserve, and Moore said the team would evaluate him along with rookie Jordyn Tyson and Kelvin Banks Jr.
The 2-5 Saints host the Browns on Sunday, which means Estime could face the team that cut him in his first week.
