Lions' Jack Campbell Still Hospitalized, but Team Says Early Signs Are Positive

Dan Campbell said 'your prayers are working' a day after the All-Pro linebacker was carted off on a backboard, and Detroit's center also has a low ankle sprain

The news on Jack Campbell is encouraging. The Lions linebacker remained in a Detroit-area hospital Monday after being carted off on a backboard with a neck injury against the Vikings, but the team said "preliminary indications are positive."

"Jack Campbell continues to rest and recover at a local hospital," the Lions said in a statement. "Out of respect for Jack and his family, we will not share further information at this time."

Coach Dan Campbell struck the same tone when he met with reporters.

Campbell was face down and not moving after a tackle on T.J. Hockenson early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 19-15 win. He was alert and breathing when he was taken to the hospital, and the Lions' entire roster surrounded the cart as he was driven off the field.

The 2023 first-round pick was an All-Pro last season, when he became the first player in seven years with 150-plus tackles, at least five sacks and three forced fumbles, and he signed a four-year extension in May that runs through 2030.
