Campbell went down after a scary collision late in the game at Ford Field. He was strapped to a backboard and loaded onto the cart, and Aidan Hutchinson was visibly emotional before pulling his teammates together, as Ari Meirov noted.
The Lions held on to win 19-15 and move to 5-2, handing Minnesota its first loss of the season and tightening the NFC North race. The result was secondary for Detroit afterward. Coach Dan Campbell said the team had no new information on his linebacker following the game.
Jack Campbell is the centerpiece of the Lions' defense. The 2023 first-round pick earned All-Pro honors last season and wears the green dot as Detroit's signal-caller in the middle of the defense, which makes him the hardest player on that side of the ball to replace.
The team hasn't said whether Campbell has movement in his extremities or when he might be released from the hospital. Until there's a diagnosis, there's no way to put a timeline on his return, and the bigger concern right now is his health.
Any update on Campbell's condition is expected to come from the team after further testing at the hospital, and it will shape how Detroit's defense lines up for the rest of the season.
