An IR stint would sideline James for at least the next four games, starting with Sunday's matchup with the Rams.
James hasn't played since Week 3. He was inactive against the Seahawks in Week 4 and hasn't been back since, and he had 21 tackles in the three games he did play. The Chargers were hoping to get their defensive captain back coming out of the bye. Instead, an 0-6 team will keep going without its best defensive player.
