Eagles Waive CB Jakorian Bennett From IR as Practice Window Closes
Philadelphia lets Bennett go instead of activating him after three weeks of practice, and also releases WR Quentin Skinner from the practice squad
The Eagles made their call on Jakorian Bennett, and it wasn't the one he was hoping for. Philadelphia waived the cornerback from injured reserve on Tuesday rather than activating him to the 53-man roster.
As Zach Berman noted, Bennett had practiced for the past three weeks after the Eagles designated him to return from IR, which started a 21-day clock. With that window closing this week, the team had two choices: add him to the active roster or let him go. It chose the latter.

Bennett had been dealing with a knee injury and never made it back into a game during the window. He was ruled out against the Cowboys on Oct. 26 and was downgraded to out again before Sunday night's loss at Washington, even with veteran corner Jonathan Jones sidelined by a hamstring injury.
That's the telling part. Philadelphia was short at corner in both games and still didn't turn to Bennett, which suggests the staff didn't see him as part of the rotation once healthy. Bennett now goes through waivers, where any team can put in a claim.
The Eagles also released wide receiver Quentin Skinner from the practice squad, and Berman reported the team held no visits or tryouts Tuesday.
The move comes in the middle of a rough stretch. Philadelphia has lost six straight, and Nick Sirianni said Monday he isn't making changes at offensive coordinator or quarterback after the Sunday night loss to the Commanders. The Eagles host the Giants in Week 9.
