Giants Rule Out Jevón Holland, Theo Johnson for Sunday at Houston
New York downgraded its starting safety and tight end to out, leaving a defense already missing Tremaine Edmunds even thinner against the Texans
The New York Giants downgraded safety Jevón Holland (concussion) and tight end Theo Johnson (neck) to out for Sunday's game at Houston, Holland had been listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, and Johnson was doubtful.
Johnson is not making the trip to Houston.
The bigger problem is on defense. ESPN's Jordan Raanan noted the Giants will be without Holland, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and cornerback Greg Newsome against the Texans. Edmunds, the team's leading tackler, is done for the season, so New York is down a starting safety and its top linebacker in the same week.

Johnson's absence also takes the starting tight end away from J.J. McCarthy, who is set to start against Houston after the Giants worked through an unsettled quarterback situation all month.
What to watch: who fills Holland's spot at safety and Edmunds' role at linebacker on Sunday, and whether Holland clears the concussion protocol in time for next week.
