Giants plan to start J.J. McCarthy against Texans, Fowler reports
New York is planning to turn to J.J. McCarthy for Sunday's game against Houston after leaving its quarterback decision unresolved earlier in the week
The New York Giants plan to start J.J. McCarthy against the Houston Texans on Sunday, according to Jeremy Fowler. The reported plan would settle the quarterback question John Harbaugh left open earlier this week. Harbaugh said Monday that the Giants were working through a choice between McCarthy and Jameis Winston and were not ready to name a starter.

McCarthy looked solid coming in late to give the Giants a chance against the Minnesota Vikings last week, and now he'll have a full week to prepare for Houston. The Texans will also have the week to plan for McCarthy.
This is a reported plan, not a team-issued lineup announcement. The next distinction to watch is whether the Giants publicly confirm McCarthy as the starter as they prepare for the Texans.
