Dolphins Claim Edge Jamree Kromah Off Waivers From Bears, Waive Rob Beal Jr.

Miami scooped up the edge rusher Chicago cut to make room for Jeffery Simmons, its 15th waiver claim since the start of training camp

Jamree Kromah didn't stay unemployed for long. The Dolphins claimed the edge rusher off waivers from the Bears on Friday and waived edge Rob Beal Jr. to open the roster spot.

Chicago let Kromah go Thursday to make room for Jeffery Simmons after its blockbuster trade with the Titans. Kromah, 26, is an undrafted free agent out of James Madison who spent most of his time in Chicago on practice squads before a strong summer earned him a roster spot. He had three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the preseason, but regular-season snaps were hard to come by. He appeared in two games and made two tackles, both in the Week 7 win over the Patriots.

Beal, 27, signed with Miami as a free agent in March after three seasons with the 49ers, who drafted him in the fifth round out of Georgia in 2023. He has been battling injuries since training camp opened, according to Omar Kelly, and has played in just one game this season, making one tackle in the opener at Las Vegas. He has 26 career games and one sack.

The move fits a pattern for a rebuilding front office. As Adam Schefter noted, Miami has now claimed 15 players off waivers since the start of training camp, alongside 14 rookies on the active roster. Earlier this week the Dolphins claimed guard Christian Haynes after Seattle waived him.

Miami needs pass rush help. The Dolphins have just six sacks through six games, and they're coming off their first win of the season, 28-25 over the Jets. The 1-5 Dolphins host the 4-3 Patriots at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
