Broncos Rule Out RB RJ Harvey vs. Chiefs; Jaylen Waddle Questionable

Harvey's late-week knee injury will keep him out of Sunday's AFC West game, leaving J.K. Dobbins and rookie Jonah Coleman to handle the backfield

The Broncos will be without running back RJ Harvey for Sunday's AFC West showdown with the Chiefs. Denver ruled him out Friday with a knee injury, and receiver Jaylen Waddle is questionable.

Harvey's injury came on late. He was added to Thursday's report as a limited participant with the knee issue, then didn't practice Friday. Safety Talanoa Hufanga remains out, and left tackle Garett Bolles, safety Brandon Jones and defensive lineman Zach Allen join Waddle as questionable.

Harvey, a second-year back and 2025 second-round pick, has been more of a receiving weapon than a runner this season. He has 24 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown in six games, plus 25 catches for 217 yards and a score. His best moment came last week in the 30-16 win at Arizona, when he turned two catches into 54 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown.

J.K. Dobbins remains the lead back, with 87 carries for 293 yards and three touchdowns, and rookie Jonah Coleman should see more work behind him. Coleman has 19 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown, including nine carries for 54 yards against the Cardinals.

Waddle's status is the bigger question for the passing game. He aggravated his chest injury and was limited this week.

The stakes are high. The 5-2 Broncos host a 5-1 Kansas City team that will have Rashee Rice back from a hamstring injury, and the Chiefs beat Denver 31-10 in the season opener. Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET.
