Kyler Murray to be limited Wednesday as Vikings QB progresses in protocol

There is cautious optimism in Minnesota about its new quarterback. Kyler Murray will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, head coach Kevin O'Connell said, a clear step forward as Murray works through the concussion protocol after the hard hit that ended his Vikings debut.

The limited tag means Murray has advanced to at least phase three of the five-phase protocol, and O'Connell pointedly did not rule him out for Sunday's game in Chicago, though Seifert added that clearance would likely need to come by Friday. "We'll see how he responds and continue to rely on the medical folks in that regard," O'Connell said.

Murray managed only 11 snaps before exiting the win over Green Bay, and with Carson Wentz playing well in relief, completing 12 of 19 passes for 133 yards and three scores helps make the decision easier even if Murray is cleared. If Murray cannot clear the protocol, Wentz would start against the Bears, giving Minnesota a proven fallback while its new starter heals.
