The Ravens reportedly placed centers Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic on injured reserve, leaving Baltimore without both of its top two options at the position.
The move is part of a difficult run of attrition at center: beat reporter Jonas Shaffer noted that Gwyn and Pocic join Danny Pinter, making three of the team's nine injured-reserve players centers. Shaffer also reported that guard Kyle Hergel was elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Jonas Shaffer (@jonas_shaffer): The Ravens have placed Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic on injured reserve, where they'll join Danny Pinter. That means 3 of the 9 Ravens on injured reserve are centers. Practice squad G Kyle Hergel was elevated for Sunday's game vs. the Titans.
The roster decisions leave the Ravens needing to cover the middle of the offensive line with a reshaped group. Hergel's elevation provides another available option, while the two IR placements remove Gwyn and Pocic from the active roster for now.
Neither Schefter nor Shaffer's posts specified a return timetable for the two centers. Baltimore's immediate task is to get through Sunday's game with its replacement combination while the starters recover.
