The Packers reportedly placed defensive tackle Warren Brinson on injured reserve, a new development after his groin injury in practice this week.
Brinson had already missed Green Bay's first three games with a calf injury and had not played a regular-season snap, Tom Silverstein reported. The groin issue adds another setback and moves him onto injured reserve rather than leaving his status week to week.
Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein): #Packers announced they have placed DT Warren Brinson on injured reserve. Has yet to play a snap this year. Injured his groin in practice this week after missing 3 games with a calf. Also, LB Edgerrin Cooper has cleared concussion protocol and is no longer on the injury report.
The sequence means Brinson has yet to make his regular-season debut despite being on the roster. Green Bay will have to continue without the young defensive tackle as he recovers from the latest injury.
Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper also cleared concussion protocol and came off the injury report, Silverstein noted, a separate positive availability update for the Packers. Brinson's IR placement is an update to the groin-injury report already covered Friday, not a repeat of the initial injury news.
