The San Francisco 49ers elevated veteran defensive end Matt Judon from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, clearing the way for the former All-Pro to make his 49ers debut.
Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoNBCS): The 49ers promoted DL Sebastian Valdez from the practice squad to the active roster and waived DL Viliami Fehoko Jr. They also elevated DE Matthew Judon and WR Malik Turner from the practice squad to be available to play against the Broncos in Week 4.
Judon, who signed to the practice squad on September 28, is expected to help fill the gap left by Nick Bosa's absence on the defensive line. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed earlier in the week that Judon would play Sunday, saying he has had a good week of practice and the team hopes he is ready for the moment.
The 49ers also promoted defensive lineman Sebastian Valdez from the practice squad to the active roster and waived defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko Jr., while elevating wide receiver Malik Turner alongside Judon for the Week 4 matchup.
Judon's addition gives San Francisco a proven edge presence as it tries to generate pressure on Denver's offense. The veteran brings years of production and a track record of double-digit sack seasons, a boost for a defensive front that has been shorthanded without Bosa.
