The Chiefs' secondary is trending the right way. Cornerback Mansoor Delane was back on the practice field Wednesday, another step forward as Kansas City prepares for Sunday night.
Head coach Andy Reid was optimistic, telling reporters there is a strong chance Delane suits up under the lights. Reid's phrasing leaves little doubt about which way this is leaning just days out from kickoff.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): #Chiefs coach Andy Reid: "There's a pretty good chance" that Mansoor Delane plays Sunday night.
Delane's availability matters plenty for a Chiefs defense that has had to manage its cornerback rotation week 1. Getting a full Wednesday session in the bank is typically the clearest signal a defensive back is tracking to play, and Reid's public confidence only reinforces it. If Delane clears the week without a setback, Kansas City should have one of its key cover men available for the prime-time matchup.
