Tennessee drafted Ward No. 1 overall in 2025, and through three games of his second season he ranks 21st with an 80.9 passer rating, throwing two touchdowns and an interception. The offense has labored — the Titans rank 31st in total offense and 30th in scoring going into Sunday's game against the Ravens.
The low point came in last weekend's 12-7 loss to the Giants, when Ward dropped back at the Tennessee 7-yard line with 24 seconds remaining and threw an interception to Jevon Holland instead of running in a go-ahead score. Head coach Robert Saleh acknowledged the weight of the past, noting Ward was sacked an eye-popping 55 times as a rookie — a toll Saleh said has left "some PTSD" that Ward is still working through.
Ward's wife has been a visible target of the online abuse, and the quarterback said he and his family are focused on tuning out the outside noise as the Titans look to steady a 1-2 start. The situation puts a spotlight on how a fan base's frustration can land on players far removed from the field.
