Cameron Heyward is putting a clock on his career. The Steelers' 37-year-old defensive lineman said Tuesday that either this season or next will be his last, telling The Rich Eisen Show that he will not sign another contract beyond the one that runs through 2027.

Heyward is entering his 16th NFL season with no major drop-off — he played all 17 games in each of the past two seasons and earned first-team All-Pro honors in one of them and second-team honors in the other — but he acknowledged the end is near. "I don't think it's it," Heyward said, via Aaron Becker of Steelers Now. "If this is not my last year, next year will definitely be my last year, because we're not signing anymore contracts after this."
Pittsburgh has already started planning for the transition, drafting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon in the first round in 2025. Heyward totaled 78 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and six passes defensed last season, while Harmon posted three sacks and 27 tackles in 12 games with eight starts as a rookie.
