Update: Clark broke his ankle tonight. Head Coach Macdonald told reporters he will be out "multiple months," most likely the season, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.
BradyHenderson (@BradyHenderson): Mike Macdonald tells reporters in Nashville that rookie S Bud Clark has a broken ankle and will be out for "multiple months." He said they also think second-year OL Mason Richman suffered a major, long-term injury."We had three heartbreakers this week, which is tough."
The Seahawks' preseason injury toll grew Sunday night when rookie safety Bud Clark was carted off with a right leg injury in the opening quarter of their game against the Titans. Clark, Seattle's second-round pick out of TCU, went down on Tennessee's first play from scrimmage and was fitted with a vacuum splint before leaving the field.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): Looked like they were prepping the air cast for the #Seahawks' second-round pick.
The scene was concerning enough that the broadcast noted the air cast — "never a good thing" when a player's leg is immobilized that way. Clark had been competing for snaps behind starters Ty Okada and Julian Love after Seattle lost starter Coby Bryant in free agency, and he totaled three tackles in his preseason debut.
MySportsUpdate (@MySportsUpdate): #Seahawks rookie S Bud Clark, their 2nd-round pick out of TCU, is getting carted off with a lower-leg injury. They put an aircast on his leg, which is never a good thing.
The rookie's departure compounds a rough week for Seattle's depth. In a joint practice earlier in the week, the Seahawks lost wide receiver Jake Bobo for the season with a right leg injury. Clark's setback now pushes more responsibility onto D'Anthony Bell, A.J. Finley and Rodney Thomas in the secondary. The club has not yet detailed the severity of the injury.
