Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty helped off practice field after awkward landing; couldn't put weight on right leg

Las Vegas' second-year running back went down diving for a catch during team period and did not return, with the entire team gathering on the field afterward.

A scary scene at Raiders practice on Sunday. Running back Ashton Jeanty suffered an apparent leg injury during team period and had to be helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his right leg as he left.

Per reporters on the scene, Jeanty dove for a ball that got away from him, landed awkwardly and stayed down. Trainers assisted him off, and he did not return to practice. ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported the early read is a knee issue, though no diagnosis or timetable has come from the team yet.

How seriously the moment landed was clear in what happened next: the entire Raiders roster took a knee and said a prayer once Jeanty was off the field. The national wire picked it up almost immediately, with Adam Schefter boosting McFadden's report within minutes.

Until the team speaks, everything about severity is unknown — "apparent" is doing real work in every account. What is certain is that Las Vegas can ill afford an extended absence: Jeanty is the centerpiece of an offense that has spent camp searching for rhythm, and any missed time between now and Week 1 will be the single biggest storyline at Raiders practice this week.
