The Rams are scheduled to work out veteran kickers Brandon McManus and Matt Prater on Tuesday, according to Mike Garafolo, as the team seeks a replacement for the injured Blake Grupe. The two auditioning options have more than three decades of NFL kicking experience combined.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): The #Rams are working out veteran kickers Brandon McManus and Matt Prater tomorrow, sources say. Over three decades of NFL experience combined between the two as Sean McVay & Co. look for a replacement for the injured Blake Grupe.
The workout comes one day after the Rams placed Grupe on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered while making a tackle on a kickoff return in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. Grupe had handled Los Angeles' kicking work this season, leaving Sean McVay's coaching staff to scramble for options on a short timeline.
McManus and Prater are established veterans with long résumés, and either would give the Rams a steadying presence while the club sorts out a difficult stretch. Los Angeles is still awaiting word on several other key players from Sunday, including Davante Adams, who is expected to miss 6-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring.
