The Green Bay Packers are adding more help to an offensive line that has been under siege since last week's loss to the Falcons, agreeing to a one-year deal with veteran guard Kevin Zeitler, per Adam Schefter.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): More offensive line help; Veteran guard Kevin Zeitler, who has played 14 NFL seasons, is signing a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, per sources. This week, the Packers now have added veteran offensive linemen Zeitler, Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton.
Zeitler, 36, grew up in Wisconsin and played for the Badgers, and he now returns to the state for his 15th NFL season. He has started 213 career games across stints with the Bengals, Browns, Giants, Ravens, Lions and Titans, starting all 16 games he played in Tennessee last season.
The signing is the latest in a flurry of veteran additions to Green Bay's front five this week. The Packers already added Laken Tomlinson to the active roster and Mekhi Becton to the practice squad, and Zeitler took a visit with the team on Tuesday before agreeing to terms.
Green Bay's line issues were front and center in the Thursday night loss to Atlanta, a game the Packers were easily favored to win but lost in what coach Matt LaFleur's staff described as a disarrayed performance. The team will be on the road to face Tampa Bay on Sunday, and the added depth gives the unit more options as it looks to stabilize.
