Mike Garafolo reports that the Green Bay Packers had former Dallas Cowboys first-round pick Mazi Smith in for a workout Monday. Smith was recently released by the Miami Dolphins.
A first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2023, Smith spent three seasons in Dallas, starting 22 of 47 games and recording 72 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He was released in March 2026 and signed with Miami, but the Dolphins parted ways with him last week. At 6-foot-4 and 337 pounds, Smith was considered one of the more athletic interior defensive linemen in his draft class.
The Packers have been dealing with a wave of defensive line injuries. Five days ago they placed defensive tackles Jonathan Ford and Javon Hargrave on injured reserve. A workout does not guarantee a signing, but it signals Green Bay is actively exploring options for interior depth.
