BREAKING: Josh Jacobs legal case resolved; NFL suspension decision forthcoming

Josh Jacobs' legal case in Green Bay has reached a resolution, clearing the way for the NFL to decide whether the Packers' running back will be suspended. The Brown County (Wis.) District Attorney is seeking a conviction on the misdemeanor battery count and will accept a deferred agreement on the criminal damage to property charge if Jacobs meets five stipulations, with no jail time sought.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported from the courthouse that the deferred judgment agreement on the damage charge has been accepted, and that Jacobs was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs on the battery count.

Now that the legal matter has been finalized, it removes Jacobs from the commissioner-exempt list allowing for the next step. Now Jacobs awaits the NFL's decision on a suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy, which is forthcoming.

Jacobs was arrested May 26 after an alleged domestic incident at his home, originally on five counts including a felony, and was charged last month with two misdemeanors: battery and criminal damage to property. The NFL placed him on the commissioner's exempt list on Aug. 30 — paid but barred from practicing or playing — while the case moved through Brown County court. The Packers have since reshaped their backfield, acquiring running back Kaleb Johnson from Pittsburgh after Jacobs' exempt-list placement.
