The Seahawks received encouraging news on Sam Darnold's hip Thursday, but the quarterback is still expected to miss some time — the team believes it "dodged a bullet."
Darnold is expected to miss next week's game against division rival Arizona but could be back for Week 3, as it's more than two weeks away from now and should give him a real chance to heal up.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Seahawks QB Sam Darnold underwent an MRI on his hip this morning that team doctors still are reviewing to determine how much time he will miss. It is expected to be some, but for now the team believes it, as one source described, "dodged a bullet."
Darnold was ruled out of Wednesday's season-opening win over the New England Patriots after sustaining the hip injury, with X-rays and a CT scan ruling out a fracture. Drew Lock started in his place and Seattle rallied past the Patriots 13-10.
