Brown left in the third quarter with an ankle injury and never came back. The final score says Seahawks won but the at what costs to both teams.
The ending came down to one bad decision. New England had driven into position for a tying field goal, and Maye threw a ball toward the end zone that never got far enough away from traffic. Jobe read it all the way, stepped in front of it, and sealed Seattle's third takeaway of the fourth quarter. A defense that had been on its heels for long stretches took the game over exactly when it had to, and the Patriots walked off with a loss they had a kick to avoid.
The comeback started with a decision of Seattle's own. Down in the second half with a backup quarterback, the Seahawks stared at a fourth-and-1 and went for it instead of punting the opener away. New England got no such comfort. A.J. Brown's Patriots debut ended in the third quarter with a right ankle injury on a third-down incompletion. Brown went down for the catch, had his ankle stepped on, and immediately grabbed it. He finished the night with three catches for 26 yards and was ruled out the rest of the night, sent for X-rays. The newest weapon for Maye left the locker room in a walking boot, but there haven't been any additional details other than it's an ankle injury, and it seems likely he will miss some time.
