The Saints will open Cam Jordan's final NFL season without him. Head coach Kellen Moore ruled the veteran defensive end out of Sunday's game against the Lions, with the hamstring injury Jordan suffered in early August not yet ready for game action.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): #Saints HC Kellen Moore rules out DE Cam Jordan (hamstring) for Sunday. The expectation was he'd miss the start of the season. Now official.
The news was more encouraging on the other side of the ball: Alvin Kamara returned to practice after missing the last few weeks with an MCL injury. Moore listed the running back as a limited participant and said the team will see how he responds as it maps out plans for Week 1. Garafolo noted the expectation has been that Kamara has a shot to play Sunday, depending on how the week goes.
Tight end Oscar Delp (hamstring) and running back Audric Estime (thigh) were also out of practice for New Orleans. Jordan, who has said 2026 will be his final season, had been expected to miss the start of the campaign.
