The New York Giants will lose receiver and returner Braxton Berrios for the season after his lower-leg injury requires surgery, Ari Meirov reports.
Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate): #Giants WR/returner Braxton Berrios will undergo season-ending surgery for the lower-leg injury he suffered Sunday. Berrios was signed to the active roster after the team released Odell Beckham Jr.
Berrios had only recently joined the active roster after New York released Odell Beckham Jr. With the Giants using him as both a receiver and returner, the surgery removes a newly added option from two parts of the roster.
The update advances the story beyond Monday's report that Berrios was headed to injured reserve after getting hurt Sunday against Arizona. That move took him off the active roster; the surgery report now confirms his season is over.
