DeMarvion Overshown made progress Tuesday in his recovery from a hamstring injury, going through individual drills for the first time since getting hurt — but the Cowboys linebacker remains a long shot to suit up Thursday against the Buccaneers, coach Brian Schottenheimer said.
Todd Archer (@toddarcher): DeMarvion Overshown went through individual drills for the first time since suffering his hamstring injury but Brian Schottenheimer said it was a "longshot," for him to play Thursday.
Overshown took the field for individual work in what amounted to his first practice activity since the injury, a meaningful step as he works his way back. Still, the short week is working against him: with the Thursday night kickoff less than 48 hours away, Dallas appears unlikely to have one of its most athletic off-ball defenders available.
The timeline points toward Overshown being a more realistic option for the following week against Green Bay than for Thursday's matchup, should his recovery continue on schedule. His return is a priority for a Cowboys defense that leans on his speed and playmaking in the second level, and any extended absence would put more on the rest of the linebacker group against a Tampa Bay offense that has been productive this season.
