The Colts announced Friday they have parted ways with veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton, ending his short tenure in Indianapolis after roughly a month with the organization.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Colts released veteran WR Darius Slayton.
Indianapolis had signed Slayton after rookie wideout Alec Pierce went down early in the season with a knee injury, hoping the veteran could supply a deep threat in the passing game. But Slayton never appeared in a game for the Colts, and the team elected to move on, per multiple reports.
Slayton, a 2020 fifth-round pick out of Auburn by the Giants, caught 37 passes for 538 yards with one touchdown in 14 games for New York last season. Now at 28 years old, he becomes a free agent and can sign with any team.
