The Chargers made a pair of wide receiver moves Saturday, activating KeAndre Lambert-Smith from injured reserve and releasing veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Chargers activated wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith from injured reserve/Designated for Return and released wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Lambert-Smith, who signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn in 2025, has been on IR since before the regular season. The 23-year-old caught seven passes for 101 yards during the preseason before landing on the shelf. His activation gives the Chargers another young receiving option as they prepare for Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals.
Valdes-Scantling's release comes after he signed a one-year deal with the Chargers in March. The veteran deep threat appeared in all five games this season but managed just eight receptions for 132 yards and no touchdowns, failing to carve out a consistent role in offensive coordinator Greg Roman's scheme.
The Chargers secondary also saw movement earlier in the week, with safety Derwin James and tackle Joe Alt continuing to miss practice time — both were ruled out for Thursday's practices.
