The Pittsburgh Steelers' injury picture cleared up for one key weapon while clouding another Saturday, as wide receiver DK Metcalf was taken off the injury report while tight end Pat Freiermuth was added as questionable for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Steelers have added TE Pat Freiermuth (calf) to the injury report and he is now questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Additionally, WR DK Metcalf (illness) has been removed from the injury report and will not have an injury designation for Sunday's game.
Metcalf had been listed as questionable earlier this week with an illness but is now fully cleared and expected to play. His presence gives quarterback Aaron Rodgers a full complement of weapons against a Buccaneers defense that has struggled against the pass this season.
Freiermuth's calf injury came as a surprise — he was not listed on Friday's injury report. The tight end has been one of Pittsburgh's most reliable targets this season and his status adds uncertainty to the Steelers' passing game plans. If Freiermuth cannot go, the Steelers would turn to Darnell Washington and MyCole Pruitt in the tight end rotation.
The Steelers enter the matchup at 3-2, slight favorites over the 1-4 Buccaneers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.
