Dre Greenlaw's appeal of his one-game suspension was denied, locking in that the 49ers linebacker will sit out Monday night's game against the Commanders.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): #49ers LB Dre Greenlaw’s appeal is denied. He’s suspended for Monday vs. the #Commanders.
The ban stems from an act of unsportsmanlike conduct in the 49ers' game against Seattle, when Greenlaw used his helmet to headbutt Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV, who was not wearing a helmet, drawing an ejection. The league suspended the veteran linebacker without pay for one game under Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1.
Appeals of on-field discipline are decided by a hearing officer jointly appointed by the NFL and NFLPA. With the appeal denied, Greenlaw is eligible to return to the active roster on Tuesday, Oct. 20, following the 49ers' Monday night matchup with Washington. Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter also confirmed the appeal was denied.
