The 49ers' wide receiver room took a brutal hit in Seattle. Kyle Shanahan confirmed Monday that Deebo Samuel will miss "at least a couple of weeks" with a hamstring injury, while Ricky Pearsall has been lost for the season with a torn PCL and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling faces 10 weeks with an ankle injury.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters that WR Deebo Samuel is expected to miss "at least a couple of weeks" with the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday in Seattle.
Pearsall's season-ending PCL tear is the most significant long-term blow. The wideout had been emerging as a reliable second option behind Samuel, and his absence for the remainder of the year forces Shanahan and offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak to reshuffle the rotation behind first-round pick Deebo Samuel. The 49ers were already operating without Christian Kirk (calf) and Demarcus Robinson (ankle), both of whom remain on injured reserve.
The 49ers face the Commanders on Monday Night Football in Week 6, followed by a bye in Week 7. That extra recovery week could prove critical for a WR room that suddenly has very few healthy bodies. San Francisco will likely need to tap the practice squad or the open market for additional receiver depth, and the team's Week 8 opponent — the Cowboys — fields the NFL's fifth-ranked pass defense, making the next month a real test of the 49ers' offensive resilience.
