Browns running back Quinshon Judkins is day-to-day with an ankle injury, head coach Todd Monken confirmed Monday. Monken offered a similar assessment for Judkins as he did for star linebacker Carson Schwesinger — both have a chance to play this week, per Ian Rapoport.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): Coach Todd Monken calls Carson Schwesinger day to day, and gives a similar description to Quinshon Judkins (ankle). Both have a chance to play this week.
Judkins has been a key part of Cleveland's rushing attack alongside Khalil Rountree, serving as the team's change-of-pace back with 421 yards and four touchdowns through the first five weeks. Ankle injuries have been an ongoing concern for the Browns' backfield — Judkins was also limited in the preseason by a separate lower-leg issue.
The Browns, now 2-3 after Sunday's loss to the Jets, face an uncertain timeline for Judkins but avoided the worst-case outcome with a day-to-day designation rather than a multi-week absence. Cleveland's backfield depth will be tested if Judkins cannot go — Rountree and Myles Hinton are the other active backs on the roster.
