The Vikings got a welcome sight on the practice field Wednesday, with star wide receiver Justin Jefferson returning to work on a limited basis as he works his way back from an ankle injury.

Jefferson joined right tackle Brian O'Neill in limited participation, per head coach Kevin O'Connell. The receiver's return to drills after being ruled out in recent weeks marks a key early step as Minnesota eyes his availability for the weekend.

The Vikings' offensive line and pass-catching group remain banged up, however. Left tackle Christian Darrisaw was held out of practice while in concussion protocol, and wide receiver Jordan Addison also did not practice with what O'Connell called minor hamstring soreness.

The injury picture around Jefferson has been the story of Minnesota's season so far, with the star wideout missing time after an ankle sprain. His limited return Wednesday is the clearest positive sign yet, though the club will be careful not to push him too quickly. Darrisaw's concussion status and Addison's hamstring will be monitored closely as the Vikings balance their Week 5 game plan with an offense eager to get its playmakers back on the field.
